Al has had a varied and extensive career in government, politics, international business, finance, and technology development. His twenty one years in government included twelve years as the Mayor of Calgary, Alberta.
He developed leading water and wastewater technologies for developing countries, was CEO of the International Projects Group of a Dutch owned finance company, a partner in an Indigenous development company, and founded and is CEO of a Clean Technology company focusing on emission reductions with operations in Canada, China, and Brazil.
He maintains a strong focus on public policy and has presented as an expert witness in front of committees of both the Canadian House of Commons and senate, and has been active at the provincial level in Canada in policy and regulatory development.

His extensive background includes: Strategic partnerships with Indigenous health organizations, Community outreach and education programs, Healthcare accessibility initiatives, Cultural competency training and development, Policy advocacy for underserved communities.
